Visiting an orphanage is a profound experience that leaves a lasting impact on both the visitors and the children living there. Youth Regain Life had the privilege to visit the orphanage at the Dan and Sarah Soa neighborhood in Yaoundé, where we aimed to make a positive difference in the lives of these young children.
Creating a Safe Haven:
Upon our arrival at the orphanage, we were welcomed by a warm and vibrant atmosphere. The children, despite their challenging circumstances, greeted us with smiles and radiated an incredible resilience. Our first goal was to ensure the children’s safety and well-being. We taught them basic hygiene practices, emphasizing the importance of handwashing, dental care, and personal cleanliness. By equipping them with these essential skills, we aimed to promote a healthy environment and prevent the spread of diseases.
Empowering through Knowledge:
Education is a powerful tool that can transform lives. During our visit, we focused on imparting practical knowledge to the children. We organized sessions where we taught them basic kitchen skills, including how to light up a fire and prepare simple meals.
